“Healing is not the absence of symptoms — it is the restoration of coherence, the reclaiming of meaning, and the return to a life fully inhabited.”— Dr. Liliana Rivera-Negrón, M.D.
Complex human suffering does not exist in isolation from the body, from history, or from the search for meaning. Conventional psychiatry often addresses the surface — symptoms, diagnoses, medications — while the deeper architecture of a person’s experience remains untouched.
At Embodied Meaning Psychiatry, we believe that lasting healing requires understanding the role of trauma in shaping the nervous system, the body in carrying unprocessed experience, and the profound human need to construct a life of coherence and purpose.
Understanding how adverse experiences shape the nervous system, identity, and patterns of relating — at every level of care.
The body holds what the mind cannot yet speak. We integrate nervous system awareness and somatic intelligence into psychiatric care.
Rooted in logotherapeutic and existential traditions — helping patients reconnect with personal values, purpose, and identity.
Bridging conventional psychiatry with ACT, EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and trauma-sensitive somatic practices.
We work with adults navigating complex presentations — where conventional psychiatry has not gone deep enough, and where the intersection of trauma, the body, and meaning is central to understanding suffering and recovery.
Physicians, executives, healthcare workers, and other high-achieving professionals experiencing profound exhaustion, loss of purpose, and identity erosion — ready to reconnect with what matters most.
Those who sense that conventional treatment has not gone far enough — and who are ready for a more integrative, meaning-centered approach to growth, identity, and recovery.
Difficulty managing emotions, chronic stress, and nervous system overwhelm that interferes with daily functioning and relationships.
C-PTSD, developmental trauma, and trauma-related mood and anxiety presentations requiring sustained, trauma-informed care.
All services are delivered via secure telepsychiatry. We do not accept insurance — allowing us to practice without constraints on time, depth, or approach. Every patient receives the full attention they deserve. Superbills provided upon request.
An immersive, structured approach to occupational burnout, identity erosion, and the reclamation of meaning — combining ACT, existential psychotherapy, somatic regulation, and medication when indicated. Designed for those whose inner life has been the price of professional success.
A comprehensive, unhurried evaluation of your psychiatric history, trauma background, somatic patterns, and meaning landscape. Medication management as one thoughtful tool within a broader, deeply personalized treatment framework.
Evidence-based work with emotional dysregulation, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation — drawing on ACT, somatic approaches, clinical hypnosis, and trauma-sensitive yoga to rebuild capacity from the inside out.
Certified EMDR therapy, clinical hypnosis, and trauma-informed psychotherapy for PTSD, complex trauma, and developmental trauma presentations. Rigorous, attuned, and grounded in the full complexity of each person's history.
Our work is guided by a deep conviction: that the human being is not a collection of symptoms to be managed, but a living system seeking coherence — between body and mind, between experience and meaning.
We draw from trauma-informed psychiatry, somatic and nervous system frameworks, ACT, EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and meaning-centered approaches to meet each patient in the full complexity of their experience.
A comprehensive view of your history, neurobiology, and the role of trauma in shaping your present experience.
Building nervous system capacity, emotional regulation, and somatic awareness as a foundation for deeper work.
Bringing fragmented experience into coherence — reconnecting body, mind, history, and meaning.
Building a life aligned with personal values, meaning, and authentic identity — beyond symptom reduction.
Dr. Rivera-Negrón practices at the intersection of two worlds that are too rarely brought together: the precision of psychiatric medicine and the depth of somatic, trauma-informed, and meaning-centered healing. She does not believe that a prescription alone can restore a person to themselves — and she has built her entire practice around that conviction.
What distinguishes this practice is its foundational orientation: the understanding that symptoms are not simply malfunctions to be corrected, but meaningful expressions of a person’s history, neurobiology, and inner life. Dr. Rivera-Negrón integrates EMDR, clinical hypnosis, ACT, somatic approaches, and trauma-sensitive yoga not as supplementary techniques, but as core elements of a unified, rigorously individualized model of care — one in which the full complexity of the person is both the starting point and the guide.
Her work is particularly attuned to the suffering of high-achieving individuals — physicians, professionals, caregivers — who have learned to function through pain, and who are ready to stop surviving and begin living. She is a dual board-certified psychiatrist who speaks English and Spanish, and sees patients exclusively via telehealth in Puerto Rico.
